WHAT IS CBD?
CBD (cannabidiol) has become extremely popular in the field of health and well-being. Cannabidiol is one of hundreds of naturally occurring cannabinoids found in various plants, including cannabis. Research has shown that CBD is quite a useful medicine for reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression, pain and inflammation, and many other health issues. Although cannabis is associated with psychedelic effects, CBD is not to blame for this. THC is the primary psychoactive chemical component that causes intoxicating effects. CBD, on the other hand, is safe and does not cause a ‘high’. All legal CBD products contain less than 0.2 percent THC, which is not enough to cause intoxication.
THC and CBD are two very different cannabinoids found in the same cannabis plant. There are three different varieties of cannabis: sativa, indica, and ruderalis. All of these varieties contain different amounts of THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids. CBD is mostly derived from cannabis sativa or industrial hemp, as it contains the least THC.
A brief introduction to CBD
CBD oil has powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that help relieve symptoms of several health conditions without causing serious side effects. CBD reduces the proliferation of cancer cells and promotes the growth of healthy normal cells throughout the body. Additionally, people use CBD to reduce pain caused by very serious health conditions such as AIDS, cancer, and Crohn’s disease. It can also strengthen the immune system, as CBD is similar to the endocannabinoids produced by our endocannabinoid signalling system.
This property multiplies CBD’s therapeutic value, as it can act in different parts of the body. The human endocannabinoid system is responsible for regulating various processes, such as heart rate, temperature, cognition, movement, memory, hormone secretion, pain, and anti-inflammatory responses.
CBD is not the only therapeutic compound derived from the cannabis plant. It also contains other cannabinoids and phytonutrients such as flavonoids that can also have beneficial effects on the body.
